In January this year, there was a three-day trial in the Supreme Court over the dispute between the Returned and Services League of Australia WA Branch Inc. (RSL WA) and the Veterans Motorcycle Club (VMC) regarding the VMC’s occupation of a club house on the site of the former Nollamara RSL Sub-Branch.
RSL WA’s position was that VMC had no entitlement to occupy the property and was trespassing.
The Supreme Court handed down its decision today, finding in favour of RSL WA.
RSL WA did not want this matter to go to court and sought numerous avenues to resolve this dispute without recourse to an expensive trial. The VMC pushed this matter to trial and lost.
We are currently absorbing the decision by His Honour Justice Musikanth SC. We will be considering our submissions relating to the orders and costs.
We look forward to focusing on what matters most – supporting Western Australian veterans and their families. This includes re-establishing the Nollamara Sub-Branch and continuing our preparations for Anzac Day 2025.
