RSLWA Chief Executive Officer, John McCourt, has congratulated the Eastern Region RSL Sub-Branch on its recent efforts to ensure a long-term future for the Sub-Branch at its existing location.
Mr. McCourt said that the future of the Sub-Branch and its premises was for the Sub-Branch to decide but with the strong support of State Branch.
“When I visited the Sub-Branch before Christmas I was pleased to see that members had got together to make important improvements including an external ramp to assist with access to the building for members and guests with mobility issues,” Mr McCourt said.
“Clearly, Eastern Region members are a proud bunch who want to see the best for their Sub-Branch and by maintaining the building in good order.”
Mr. McCourt said his comments made last November that the property was in disrepair were taken from a report to him that was misinformed.
He said that if the premises had to be replaced or redeveloped into the future, such a facility would of course need to comply with today’s WA Building Code.
The CEO has endorsed the Sub-Branch’s wish to discuss its future with the Bassendean Town Council and any other relevant entity.
“The Eastern Region RSL Sub-Branch will have the full support of myself and my staff to assist where required,” Mr McCourt said.
