A unique opportunity has presented itself for members and family to be involved in important medical research.
To help RSLWA to deliver potential additional services to our members, we have formed a partnership with the Perron Institute for neurological and translational science, Western Australia’s oldest medical research institute at the forefront of international research on muscle, nerve and brain disorders.
The Perron Institute is making ground-breaking advances in the medical field and has offered its expertise to assist RSLWA members. This may include:
- Rehabilitation services via clinics
- Information on managing and prevention of neurological conditions
- Participation in clinical trials
A confidential survey has been designed to provide a snapshot of current neurological issues prominent among veterans and members of their family and to gauge your willingness to respond to a more detailed questionnaire concerning a condition you have nominated. The survey will also identify members who may wish to participate in clinical trials as they become available.
Information given in response to the questionnaire concerning your health will remain confidential unless you agree in writing to share your personal information with the Perron Institute.
As a partner of the Perron Institute, RSLWA believes it is vitally important to better understand conditions that affect many West Australians – not least among our veteran community. We strongly support this survey which will take only a few minutes to complete.
There are many types of neuromuscular and neurological conditions that Perron Institute is closely involved with, including:
- Stroke
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Brain Injury
- Epilepsy
- Motor Neurone disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Huntington’s disease
- Depression
- Migraines
If you choose to provide the Perron Institute us with your contact details, it will help them understand how the Institute can help you into the future.
