Afghan Evacuees Need Our Help

Unpublished

RSLWA has offered facilities for wellbeing assessments for the Afghan migrants recently evacuated from the traumatic situation in Kabul through doctors, dentists and other specialists available within ANZAC House Veteran Central.

President of RSL National, Greg Melick, said many of those being repatriated helped the Australian Defence Force (ADF) during their twenty-year involvement in the war-torn country. He said Australian veterans could now help repay that help by assisting the Afghans to settle into a new lifestyle in Australia.

“These Afghan families have escaped a tragic situation in their home country and many will be traumatised and in fragile mental conditions.

“ADF veterans will have some understanding of this and can now return some of the support they received in Afghanistan,” he added.
