RSLWA is a leader in the care of the Veteran Community through their pursuance of dynamic provision of contemporary programs and advocacy for serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force, along with their dependents.  This includes contribution to the preservation of the memory, honour and records of those who suffered and died for their country while serving in the Australian Defence Force.

RSLWA is seeking Expressions of Interest from three suitably qualified persons with contemporary experience in establishment and oversight of Business Risk Management Systems in line with ISO 31000 Risk Management.  Successful candidates will form a Committee with two serving Directors, one of which will be the Chair, and have a willingness to share professional knowledge pro bono supporting the remit of the Risk and Audit Committee (RAC) and establish an internal Risk Management System.

Terms of Reference (TOR) will provide responsibility for evaluating the scope, effectiveness and adequacy of any internal audit plan and work program; considering the implications of internal audit findings; and overseeing the performance and objectivity of any internal audit function/roles.  Comprehensive TOR are being developed that will reflect the policies governing such procedures as recommended by the Australian Institute of Company Directors standards for good governance.

Whilst far from exhaustive the TOR will have regard to the following:

  • the integrity of the RSLWA’s risk and reporting processes;
  • audit processes and engagement of external auditors for non-financial audit matters;
  • the effectiveness of the systems of internal control and risk management; and
  • RSLWA’s systems for compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements within the Committee’s area of responsibility.

Ideally, successful candidates should have a background in the Not for Profit sector and be willing to contribute their time and experience in good Risk Management practice.
